Welcome to all our new and returning dancers for this year!
We hope you will enjoy participating in our Irish Dance Classes for this year.
As mentioned on the homepage of this site, Kylie & Shelley are Volunteer Dance Instructors for the PCYC and we volunteer their services to run the classes and coordinate the various performances throughout the year, including our major performance, the annual PCYC Irish Dancers Concert. To understand where your class fees go, please review our fundraising information.
It is with the support of our Support Group, that we are able to continue providing Irish Dance Classes, and if you would like to know more about what the support group do, and how to get involved, please review our Support information.
Class Times:
Leprechaun's (Beginner Children 4yr and over): 11.30am - 12.30pm
Consists of stretching, basic skills, solo dances (reels), group dances (ceili),
performance preparation and encouraging musicality
Jig & Jam (2 to 4 year olds): 11.00am - 11.30am
Consists of stretching, basic skills, introductory reels and encouraging
musicality through nursery rhymes and other children themed music
Beginner Adults: 10.30am - 11.00am
Consists of stretching, technical drills, technical solo dances (reels/jigs etc),
group dances (ceili), an introduction to hardshoe, and performance
preparation |
Class Fees:
Your first class is Free of Charge. PCYC Membership will then need to be paid, and a $50-10 visit pass will entitle students to 10 classes at $5.00 each class.For Membership details, please review the PCYC website.
Attire:
New students are asked to wear comfortable shorts and a T-shirt. No denim, skirts or long pants please as it restricts the dancer's movements. Once parents/guardians are satisfied that the student would like to continue with classes, an Irish Dancers Uniform T-shirt can be purchased. (Bulk orders will be placed throughout the year)
Shoes/Socks
New students are able to participate in classes with bare feet. Once parents/guardians are satisfied that the student would like to continue with classes, Irish dancing shoes & bubble socks can be purchased.
Colette brings a supply of new and second hand shoes & socks for purchase on Workshop weekends, or alternatively, shoes and socks can be purchased online from a number of websites.
Hair:
Hair is to be pulled back off the face.
